Lose to gain

Gain and loss can only be considered possibilities if one believes that what is personal is real. All that is deemed personal is viewed as special. Only a part of wholeness, no longer fully understood. The body is the primary symbol of all that is separate, special, and personal. The perception of one’s own body as well as the perception of other bodies is a disguise that tricks the mind into thinking of mine and yours. Exchange is therefore required to achieve balance so that gain and loss are sufficiently managed.

These personal trade-offs appear as negotiations in the form of compromise and sacrifice, satisfying needs, and reaping benefits. Each relationship (how we relate in awareness to other beings, and all situations) gets reduced to “Whats in it for me?” A giving and taking tug of war. Choosing between relationships becomes necessary as they are perceived as separate. Each yielding various amounts of gain and loss. Sacrifice is considered a one sided loss, while compromise is considered a two sided loss. Any sacrifice or compromise we are willing to endure for any one, or everyone, is an indication of where we have chosen to believe in specialness. The willingness to sacrifice or compromise is always for an imagined gain. That what is received in return will satisfy or benefit me in some way.

Without guidance and Spirit awareness, “What's in it for me?” becomes the ego theme song for each lifetime story. Calculating, comparing, contrasting and keeping score to ensure you never end up on the losing end of any relationship or situation. Sometimes pushing forward and sometimes pulling back to recalculate and recalibrate the amount of gain and loss.

With guidance and Spirit awareness, “What's in it for me?” is reconfigured without the figures standing in the way of ones awareness. A life of needing to make and take more is exposed as a defence tactic promoting the belief in separation. The change of desire is brought about with the change of belief in one's identity . Desire to exchange what's been made within the realm of imagination for simply what Is. Hidden from awareness by ones own choosing, but never absent: eternal peace and joy.
